What is Mathrubhumi.com Onam Pookkalam Contest?

The Onam Pookkalam Contest 2024, organized by Mathrubhumi.com, is open to all. Whether you’re a college student, part of a residents’ association, club member, or a corporate employee, you are welcome to participate. The contest encourages teams of seven members to come together and showcase their creativity in making beautiful Pookkalams. Multiple groups from the same organization or association can also participate. The competition will be held on 7th September 2024.

Eligibility of Onam Pookkalam Contest 2024

• Each team must consist of 7 members, including the team captain.
• Participation is open to college students, residents’ associations, clubs, and corporate employees.
• Only pre-registered teams will be allowed to participate in the competition.

Rules of Onam Pookkalam Competition

• Participants will receive their serial numbers on the day of the competition.
• A unique code number will be assigned to each team, which must be used during the competition.
• No names or identifying marks are permitted on the Pookkalam until after judgment.
• Only registered team members will be allowed entry to the competition venue.
• Minors are not allowed in the competition area.
• Teams must report to the Mathrubhumi counter at the event location on time. Late arrivals (over 30 minutes) will not be allowed to participate.
• Participants are allotted three hours to complete their Pookkalam, including sketching and coloring.
• The Pookkalam must be circular or square, with a maximum diameter of 1.5 meters.
• Only flowers, leaves, fruits, and vegetables are allowed. Any other materials used must be concealed beneath the floral arrangement.
• Teams should bring all necessary materials, including those for raising the Pookkalam base.
• Pre-made sketches are not allowed, but teams can refer to small pictures while sketching.
• Judging will be based on the uniqueness, beauty, cleanliness, color harmony, and overall concept of the Pookkalam.
• Flower arrangements can be adjusted after receiving permission from Mathrubhumi officials.
• The team captain or a designated member may answer questions from the judges about the flower arrangement.
• Mathrubhumi reserves the right to photograph the Pookkalams and use the images for promotional purposes.
• Arrangements and accessories should remain within the allotted space until prize distribution.
• Teams that do not adhere to the rules will be disqualified.

What is the Date of Onam Pookkalam Contest?

The Onam Pookkalam Contest 2024 will be held on 7th September 2024. The competition will begin at 10:00 AM at Rena Event Hub, opposite RBI, Kalur.
